Valerie
Born and raised in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, I moved to Green Bay when I began studying at UWGB. Before I graduated, I took 1 year off to live with a family in Freiburg, Germany as an Au Pair (kind of like a nanny). I also studied briefly at the Universität in Freiburg while I lived there. I happened to be living in Germany when I was introduced to Harry Potter…I’m a huge fan, as is everyone in my family!
While in college, I was sure I wanted to become a psychologist, but I was unsure whether I wanted to work with children or adults. My Junior year, I got a job working at a child care center. My experiences with the children and families convinced me that working with children was the path I wanted to take.
After returning from Germany and graduating from UWGB with degrees in Germany, Psychology and Human Development, I continued to work in child care. In the 17+ years I worked in the early care and education field, I had the privilege of working at 4 centers, having been Director of 3 of them.
Dedicating my professional life to working with children and families has been very rewarding! However, balancing the demands of running a large high-quality center and supervising staff with being an awesome mom to my own 2 boys became too much. I was extremely lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with the amazing team and patients at Wyss Family Clinic. Here, my schedule not only allows me to continue to work with lots of children and parents, but also to spend more time with my own family.
My husband, Joe and I both speak German and love to travel. Our boys, Fischer and Larken keep us on our toes and keep us laughing every day. They enjoy baseball, swimming and reading. Together, we’ve read the entire Harry Potter series. We also have an orange striped polydactyl cat named Hook who has lots of extra toes.
I look forward to the path to better health we will experience with chiropractic care. It is a pleasure getting to know and work with the Doctors, Office Staff and Patients at Wyss Family Clinic!
